Growing Together: Our Partnership with Greg Peterson

At Brew Naturals, our commitment to community and collaboration is at the heart of everything we do. A shining example of this is our partnership with Greg Peterson, the esteemed host of The Urban Farm Podcast. Greg, who relocated to Leicester, NC, a few years back, shares our deep-rooted passion for sustainable agriculture and local food systems. Our journey together began at the North Asheville Tailgate Market, where our mutual love for farming and the need for more natively grown elderberries brought us together.

Greg's new home in Leicester offered ample space for planting, and recognizing the challenge I faced in sourcing elderberries from sustainable farms, he kindly offered to plant elderberry cuttings on his property. True to his word, the next spring saw 100 cuttings potted and ready to grow. Today, 92 of those cuttings are thriving, with some already surpassing my height of 5’2”! This year, they are blossoming beautifully, setting the stage for what we hope will be a fruitful harvest next year.

Recently, Greg opened his farm to friends and local connections, giving them a tour of the flourishing elderberry grove. His enthusiasm for our project and his reflections on the journey of learning about elderberry cultivation were truly inspiring. This partnership not only emphasizes the significance of community in sustainable farming but also celebrates the growth and joy that come from working together towards a common goal.

Looking ahead, we are excited about the future and the potential harvests that lie ahead. This thriving orchard (or grove?) is a testament to what can be achieved through community spirit and shared values. We look forward to many more collaborative ventures and thank you all for being part of our journey.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to grow together.
